Never forget where you came from and the journey you took to get you where you are. This is the archive of comics and stories created when I was a teenager.

This is my legacy.

TRANSFORMING ROBOT MAYHEM FROM THE MIND OF A 13 YEAR OLD.

The year is 1987. I loved Transformers, and I loved comic books, so I decided to do my own stories. I drew these original comics on light-green, 6x9 steno notebook paper. I taped the pages together then stapled them like comic books.

Along with my brother and a couple of friends, we formed FUN Comics. We had no clue what we were doing, and it was glorious.

Notes: I started out with a drawing board that had a movable ruler/straightedge. I also had some other drafting tools. Started out drawing entirely two-dimensional character design. I quickly realized that wasn't going to work well. I didn't really know how to draw perspective, so I did a lot of front and side view shots.

I also realized how time-consuming it was going to be to draw the robots transforming and really being accurate as to how they transformed.

Even in this first issue, the theme of having the robots take lots of damage is prevalent.

THE TERMINATORS

ISSUE #1 - ONLY THE BEGINNING

PUBLISHED: 1987

Notes: I copied a lot of Transformers plots and devices. These first two issues are a limited series--just like the first issues of Transformers. (I had no intention of stopping at two.)

In the Transformers cartoon, the robots rarely died, but in the comic book, this was not the case.

Page 7 is a good example of my first real attempt at a panel of mass destruction. I was becoming more comfortable with drawing 3D characters, but I didn't do a lot with the backgrounds yet. That would come later.
